It actually doesn't translate to anything in another language. One story is that the lead singer was so drunk while they were recording the song that that "In the Garden of Eden" came out "In A Gadda Da Vida". Nobody really knows for sure.

There are several theories on where " In The Garden Of Eden " came from.. another 1 is that it really was supposto be called " In the garden of eden " but the drunken lead singer slurred the words into In A Gadda Da Vida ".. but it really is a mystery. but In the Garden of Eden does fit in the lyrics, but that could be by mistake

reply to 8-track? You guys made me laugh my &$% off I actually bought In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida on c.d. at the goodwill in omaha for a buck once when my record player went out and I couldn't play my record of it anymore, and hellyeah I got Bat Out of Hell in my 8-track collection. I also have it on record, cassette, and C.D. I also have 2 Allman Brothers 8 tracks, a Marshall Tucker and a couple of Lynyrd Skynyrd 8 tracks. I have about 10 other ones too.
