82 Vet Rearended
you can e-mail me Rearendded - crushed nose and rear. (see below for all the work to be done) This is my winter project. Please advise if I'm on the right track.
1 - The nose and rear spoiler are crushed so I want to remove them...stretch or bend or ??? to get them back to original shape. Than reinforce back of panel, and reinstall. Finally do exterior prep and repaint all. 2 - Here are the other "to do things" A - Each side fender has 5" crack near door B - Windshield replace (back is ok) C - Buy or rebuild crumple zones and rear frame (see photo) D - Get title changed from "salvage" to lets get her going!!! E - Driver door (frame) won't close. I think I can adjust hinges but may need to get it to a frame shop for bending. Car Background - This car was made for the Canadian market. Metrics and french language on dials and such. I've bought it 05 and was rear ended by a flat bed truck and pushed into a cadi spring 11... only 60 days after I rebuilt the engine with a cam upgrade and replaced the heater core. I thought since the body will be redone I might extend the bagage area to fit my golf clubs and get a mini spare tire (any thoughts?) Be Good Do Good... you have way more damage than that i would guess. it is going to have to go on a frame machine first.
no saving the bumpers and the luggage area is all you can get. there's a fuel tank back there. |

before. the frame tech needs to see how it was hit and what he is dealing with. he will pull it and the door should be back really close. then you can start with bodywork

I agree. The rubber bumpers are hard to paint and will warp with age. Remove the egg crate crush panels behind the bumpers and go with aftermarket fiberglass front and rear. |

Just and FYI; There is no legal way (in any state I know of) to remove a salvage brand if your title has one. The whole idea of a salvage brand is to alert future buyers of a serious accident (or flood, ect).
I own a motorcycle salvage business and I've done a lot of research on this subject. I had a 2006 Goldwing (in 2008) that had minor crash damage but they salvaged it out. I ended up selling it with the salvage title, selling it for about 60% of what it was worth used. If this is your personal car, I wouldn't worry much about it though. |

Try Mid-America, Corvette Central, or Ecklers. Urethane is sometimes not avilable for many of the early C3 years but they also have the semi-rigid bumpers as well as the fiberglas. Terry |
