'85 Ford Van:
302 c.i. While running... I Pulled off the Batterys Groung Cable, to see if it would keep running. BUT: it Died. BAD ALT? (V.R. & Alt. Together.)

bad move on your part
use a volt meter to check for charge or a screw driver to back of alt to see if it draws to it , magnetized pull , to see if charge-ing . you try that cable pull off on a computer vehicle and you'll burn up the computer . that battery is the shock absorber for electrical over peaks .

Bad Alt?...
I have done that before~ & The Engine Kept Running!!!
This time the Engine Died!!!

yes it is most likely a bad alternater. not the best or safest way to check. at the car auction i work at i just disconnect the jump pack and if it dies i also know bad alternator.

Its never a good idea and it proves nothing. use a meter to check for proper charging, it is the only way to be sure. Without a battery the alt will just run wild
|
