85 monte carlo stock rear end

I was wondering if any body could tell me how to identify or just knows what the stock rear end in an 85 Monte Carlo LS. Is it A 2 or A 3 series?

Thanks,
Logan

i have no idea what you mean by 2 or 3 series, but more than likely its a 7.5 inch ten bolt. fairly easy to identify. also a weak point.

It is a type of gear set. As i believe the different series you have, there is a certain gear ratio you can use for that particular series. For example on a 12 bolt with positration the series/gear combo would be:

series 2 = up to 2.90; 3 = 3.08-3.90; and 4 = 4.11 up or to that effect.

This isn't true for a 10 bolt but if it helps any, on my 87 MCSS i have a 2 series with 3.42's on it.
