85 Monte carlo vacuum setup

I have been trying to figure out exactly how a vacuum system works and the Haynes manual I bought is getting me nowhere. I have a 750cfm Holley double pumper w/ electric choke and a mallory unilite distro - it has both mechanical and vacuum advances, an Edelbrock performer series intake manifold and a TH700R4 hat seems to require a hose attached in the top of it.

Now what I am trying to do is remove any and all unecessary items, and there is somthing that I cannot seem to identify that I believe has to do with emissions -please correct me if I'm wrong.

This thing that has 2 hoses going into it - can I remove it?

I believe one is the hose that separates right before the valve

this looks to be a sensor of some sort that branches at the small T before the last hose

and the other is a bigger hose that I cannot follow easily

and then this coming from the tranny - does this possibly connect to the end valve above?

I dont quite know where to route the brake vacuum line, as the manifold has a hose that comes off the back that would fit the valve, but there is a power brake line in the carb that I would think it should go to instead.

Where is the PCV hose supposed to connect? The full manifold vacuum port on the carb? Or should it go to power brake line on the carb and then the manifold line to the brake vacuum?

I am sorry if I sound confusing, but I am not really sure as to how these should be routed. If there are any diagrams of these things that would be great.

Thats a pile of questions!! LOL

the big 2" thing is the cruise control servo. Yes, it can be removed if you don't plan on using it.

The plastic purple hose most likely runs the heater/defrost/ac motors under the dash. Best to keep that hooked to manifold vacume.

The plastic tube on the top of the trans is a vent, just leave it as is.

The brake booster hose "usually" goes on the rear of the carb in the base plate, but can go anywhere you have manifold vacume and a large port that fits the hose.

PCV hose "usually" goes on a large port on the front of the carb, but again, can go on any large manifold port.....BUT!!! do NOT "T" the booster and pcv together. They need to be seperate!
