85 z28 rearend

Are the gears in a stock z28 good for a 383 stroker??
I hear they are 3.23s..

It depends on your engines' power band, and also the tire size you will be running too.

Your next problem is the simple fact that the axle itsself won't like all that added power, it should be a 7.625 inch ring gear, and they aren't known to last too long with a bunch of power.

If you by chance have the 7.75 inch "Australian" axle, you will be better off swapping it to the 7.625 so you can find parts to replace those that engine overpowers later on.
