86 chevy 6.2 diesel rebuild or conversion

just start by saying hey....sup
i have an 86 6.2 and i am looking to do right by it
im a hardcore chevy fan
i want either a new 6.2 in or else a 2005 or later 6.6/6.5 turbo
any thoughts or suggestions or tips would be great

5.9L Cummins.. If you have a dead 6.2, a mech 6.5 ( '93-'94 ) will fit in, but in the same token, I'v found 5.9L Cummins are just as cheap/ expensive and they are a better engine that can be put behind chevy transmissions and otherwise bolt in with some aftermkt parts

NOTE: i'm not an engine person, but:

i would love a new 6.5 too, but they are about 8 grand, not including injectors and pump.

How much driving do you do? If the answer is less than 3750 miles per month (sorry i don't know my kilo conversions), then i think the question is how to rebuild this 6.2?

i think if you go 05 and later, you might end up with what you got now---an engine that you don't know about it's history and may need a rebuild as well.

Just my lame opinion.
