86 Chevy...Vortec V6???

I'm looking at a truck right now. Its a 1986 Chevy short wheel base, but what really concerns me is that it has a Vortec V6. The price is 800 dollars, so I think I could buy it, sell the Vortec, and buy a 327/350/383??? with the money that I make and use parts for the piece of crap motor i bought from the salvage yard and never installed. Give some help here please.

Main Question...Will I be able to sell a Vortec V6 for anything at all or should I just wait...the main reason I want is for the price...still in high school and moneys a liiiiiitle slow.

Are you sure that it is a Vortec, or that they year is 1986? If it is an 86, the only way it has a vortec is if someone put it in, as the vortec 4.3 was not produced until 1993. A 1996 truck could very likely have the vortec, however. At $800, as long as the body is in good shape, I'd buy it. Putting in a small or big block chevy is very easy to do in a truck, as both were availiable stock in the 1/2 and 3/4 tons.
