86 GM Headliner replacement, better than original?

My 86 Monte SS headliner is hammered. I just removed it and it has cracks and isnt worth repairing.

Are the new "ABS Plastic" replacement parts better material? The original seems to be a firm Styrofoam but is somewhat crappy. Im ordering online so I cant touch the item to see of its better but I have to assume that it is

ABS is what is used to make most of the plastic interior parts of the newer cars. Yes, that would be far superior to the original. ABS is not inexpensive, so if the replacement headliner is only $40, I would be a little leery.

You realize that this thread is over 2 years old, right?

I see they have a new ABS board for your car for $140, and the sunvisors are $80. Not bad. How much did they charge you for shipping? I hope the visors match the headliner.

I ended up getting the Dixie version not long after this post. Shipping was a bit high considering it was rolled into an 8" tube but the total for the headliner + visors + shipping was worth it. I think it was $30 or $60 shipped???? (been 2 years now)

Flawless as far as I could tell. Color was a dead on match on the visors and headliner but of course the drivers side doesnt have the little sticker that tells you how to start the car (for anyone looking to stay original). Headliner looks original with the higher part above the driver and passengar, holes precut for the visors, domelight and those weird coat hanger things. THe holes are in the ABS and not the headliner cloth so if you dont use the holes you cant see that theyre there

Installation was comical: roll the headliner, pop it through the drivers window, and let it unroll itself....poof, done.
