Post 86 monte ss converter and carb question

I recently purchased an 86 monte ss and would like to know if my lockup converter will work on a 72 400sbc engine? Also;the 400 is near stock, with only a basic cam change to help it breath better. What cfm edelbrock carb do you suggest for basic street use to 5000 rpm?

should work fine but you are going to need a lockup switch, get the switch off a mid 80s chevy truck that had a lockup tranny and no computer its on the firewall behind the distributor it has a vac line and elec conn. to tranny and field, take the whole set up,the boneyards are full of them. For a carb i would use the 600, while in the junkyard get a vacume distributor, the computer unit won't work with a non-computer carb
