86 Pontiac Trans Am lower from air damn thingy

there a part that gone from under my radiator and i dont know how big or small it is.where it was is a bit of hard plastic like material and 6 bolts.the section that has bolts init is about somewhat over 2 ft in length.my car runs hot without it so i think it might be something called alower front air damn.if anyone knows what this is and maybe has pics and knows where i could get this part,i would be soo thankfull.

They didnt have an option for a air deflector,if thats what its called.


ill try to post this pic of where the thing goes so maybe someone can tell me what goes there lol.whatever those 6 bolts held on is what i need.

Use carpart to find a yard w/ the same bumper as your car and then call said yard about the air deflector. Its to cheap of a part for it to be listed as an option on the site.

I cant recall if the air damns are all the same or if the trans ams had their own design to account for the different bumper. My 84 v6's air damn was just a simple L shaped piece that had a few bolt holes

Here is a pic of a custom one but you get the idea. There is also the rest of the plastic that is important. The camaros and firebirds were different due to different nose designs.

thanks for the help everyone.i couldnt find that part anywhere so i got some sheetmetal im going to see if i can work something out but as far as the rest of the plastic stuff goes,i have no idea what it is O_o

I had the same part missing on my old 86 firebird. it ran hot till i replaced it. Its not much but helps air go through the radiator. good luck

It works as a system you need more than just the part that hangs down. It being open underneath just causes turbulence. Check out thirdgen.org

the prob is i dont know what parts go uner there.i went to the ebay link and it shows 2 different ones.one is a 3 piece and the other is a strip with something connected on each side.sorry im a noob.
