86 trans am speedometer
i was just wondering if anyone would happen to know if on a 1986 trans am the speedometer is cable or electric powered. and also if it is suppose to have a 85 mph or 140 mph speedometer

On the '86 IROC-Z that I used to own, it was a cable style sender. I know that '88 had an electronic sender, Im not sure what '87s had. My '86 IROC also had the 140 MPH speedometer.
I would think Firebirds were built the same, although maybe only the GTAs had the 140 speedos. HTH ROCNDAV
