'87 Corvette T-700-R4 (3-4) Gone - rebuild time

Last week,my 3rd and 4th gears gone south !!!!
i will do a complete rebuild of the TH700 tranny
but....which upgrade should i go with ?
any tips while im there? thanks!

Im doubtful about http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...id=p2759.l1259

has a price of $ 246.00
This is a New High Performance Rebuild Kit for a TH7004R Transmission.
Covers all 1987-on TH7004R Transmissions.
It includes: a complete Transtec gasket and seal kit, American made Alto Red Eagle Racing clutches, Kevlar band, complete set of Kolene Steels, complete Federal Mogal/ Clevite bushing kit, Sealed Power full ring kit and filter.
This kit is designed for the race enthusiast that wants that extra edge.
is it worth the 246.00???

I've also read that B&M sells "transmissions in a box" BM # 70233

http://www.bmracing.com/s.nl/c.72308...&category=6185

Transkit - Buick, Chevrolet, GMC, Olds, Pontiac - '87-'93 TH-700R4 (not for 4L60E)

************

$240.75

*************

so ...what can i do now ?
Should i go this route PLUS THIS ONE
???????

THANKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Knowledge first. TOOLS second.. and then if this is your first Auto trans build, patience, perseverance and money.

Below is a 'snippet' from a post of mine and the parts, mods I used for my latest build. Do some research on this very BB and you will find nearly all you will ever need.

****
My latest 4L60 build, this one is for ME.

'89 2WD truck core
13 vane pump
TransGo hardened rings and big slide spring
Ground PR valve land
.471 boost valve
New reverse drum
Wide carbon band w/HD anchor
Resized reverse piston orifice
Alto reds with kolene steels
Z-pak 3-4 clutch
5-pinion GM planets- the build price goes up quickly here.
Closed input drum orifice
29 element fwd sprag
New bushings, thrusts.
Beast shell
Wide low/rev roller
TransGo 700 2&3 recal kit (auto)
Governor recal kit
Superior billet 2&4 servo
TransGo separator plate
Orifice'd low/rev piston .030
****

thanks C10
i won't do this myself, this one's for my auto trans builder.-
i won't do a complete rebuild as your list.-
He have done my excars 81TTA , 82 Firebird and a 1989 Firebird Formula
using just the OEM Replacement overhaul kits and nothing else.-
all of the pinions and stuffs are reused after cleaning.-
maybe i should call it an overhaul not a rebuild.-
He has the tools and the experience
i need advice on the kits i posted above
what you think ?
thanks a lot !!!!!!!!
Sam

Well, the advice and what I think is in my list per se, that was posted- as this trans is killer and it resides in my own hot rod. Is it the 'ultimate' ? no, but it's 'good'.

If your builder is 'in the know' then he should already be familiar with the mods and parts.

Best of luck.

Calderone look here also, usually cheaper prices. Many trans builders don't care for the Kolene steels and prefer the cheaper stock steels.
