Post 87 CRX, stick weld or MAP gas?

I have a 87 CRX that I fell asleep and crashed the front left. I have cut off
all the metal that was smashed, and cut a replacement off another car.
I need to connect this is a reliable manner. I had planned to use a stick welder,
which I'm not good at and it is really thin metal, beer can thick, and I'm worried
about burning through. Also - I had planned to take pieces of aluminum or steel band stock and like connect the seam with screws, then weld it together.

Then I heard that maybe I should use this MAP gas from Home Depot, and
attempt a high temperature braze instead of a weld. I've not done this before, not that it matters because I'm not a good welder so both are open ground.

My question is: should I try the stick welding thing as I had originally planned,
or should I try this MAP gas with aluminum stick to do that high temp braze?
Or another idea that I don't know about? Thank you very much for your help.
