87 dodge 318 questions

I have an 87 dodge ramcharger with the 318. I plan on putting a crane energizer 272 cam, edelbrock valvesprings, stock 4bbl intake, eddy performer 600 carb, and mopar performance distributor in it. Here is my questions, we dont have emissions here so I no longer need any of that crap. What year of intake should I be looking for? It has the 727 trans with lockup convertor and if I leave the computer in the fender will it still control this? I just have to get rid of this crappy lean burn ignition. Does this sound like a good parts list?

There is a lot of good on Chrysler lean burn information on the web if you go to moparchat, dodge ramcharger central, moparts or allpar. They all have good message boards on the subject.

hey 74, I had an 87 ramcharger with the 360. If I were you, I would get rid of all the emissions stuff on it, its probalby shot anyway. Leave the cat on it and put an aftermarket intake on it. THe computer is fine just sitting there not hooked up.

If I remember correctly, your truck does not have an electronic overdrive transmission, so you will probably be fine. I'm doing this from my school, but when I get home I will look it up in my automotive Chilton Guides. Sounds like you're going to have a nice build. oh, if the trans does function without the computer, throw the computer away, or donate it to a museum somewhere. I'll post some Chilton info on the electronic control systems too if I get a chance.
