The 880 block comes in various forms of roller ready. From completely finished to only having the spider bosses cast. Some have the machining for the lifters done. Some have the bosses only as cast'some are only drilled, some are drilled & tapped. If it was a car engine ,it most likely is complete.Anything after 96 is likely to be complete.

OK I haven't took intake nor valve covers off. I want to upgrade cam and want to know what to get before disassembling it. Guy before I got it didn't know what was inside.

Post the Alpha-Numbers that are stamped on the block deck at the very front of the passenger side (maybe behind the alternator).

If its a 96 or newer it has a roller cam. If it's a 95 it has a flat tappet but will have the roller cam provisions. Those provisions may not be finished, partially finished such as drilled but not tapped, or are completely finished, or some mix there of.

If you pull a rocker cover and shine a light into the valley if it has a roller cam you will see the dog bones that tie pairs of lifters together preventing rotation of the lifter and the legs of the spider that hold the bones in place. If you don't see dog bones spider legs it's got flat tappets.

Unless the 880 block was used by GM for building a 350HO crate engine, the 880 block should contain a roller cam, they all are roller lifter ready.

They 1st came out in 1995IIRC. The 1st 880 production use was for the 1996 truck/van/SUV Vortec 350 run.
