89 350 engine rebuild question

Ok first rebuild in a long time. So couple of question on the rings instructions it says dots on the rings go face up OK! but the second ring does not have a large dot like the first but a very fine punch point I don't know if this is a missed punch or what. Anyway belved on the inside So on the second ring how should the belved edge face up or down?
Second As I'm looking at the honing it seem to be very very fine. Is this correct or should I be able to feel the cross hashing?

Craig

Both top and second ring have the pip marks, some might be very small but non the less they both face up. Also the cross hatch pattern all depends on the type of rings you're using, the moly faced rings , not "chrome molly" as some elude to uses a finer stone for final hone procedure. To make sure what you have better ask the machine shop that did the work.

Yup, the dot faces up no matter how small it is. They don't make mistakes when making rings. You might not be able to feel the crosshatch pattern, but can you see that it's there? If so it should be fine.
