89 5.0 H.O. spark plug wireing/spark order

Hey i just started to play with an 89 5.0, was/am a chevy guy but the wife wants to race this mustang, i am presently looking for someone in Vancouver, Kelowna B.C. canada that can build me a snorty lil 5.0, have had this car a year, on second engine, want like around 5-600 h.p.. I just saw that their is a difference between the ford small block spark.firing order and the 5.0 H.O. order, is this a fact? Lemme know please on reputable engine shop that stands behind their talent, and won't require me selling my last kid! Sold first one for the car!!! Hah...

Unfortunately, if you want 5 or 600 hp from a small block, you may have to get a second on the whole family, it won't come cheap. That much power will require some serious parts in the drive train as well. What's your budget?

A lot of the time, Fords have the firing order cast into the stock manifold.
Do not forget Ford numbers the cylinder banks. 1,2,3,4 on the right side of the engine, 5,6,7,8 on the left.

15426378 is one common firing order.
13726548 is another.

Worst case scenario, turn the engine, watching the exhaust valve for number one cylinder. Watch it open, and then close. The intake valve should start to open, just before the exhaust valve completely closes. If it does not, you probably have a reverse rotation marine engine.

Once you see number one exhaust open, and close, and number one intake start to open, in 90 degrees of crankshaft rotation, the second cylinder in the firing order should have an exhaust valve close, and intake start to open. In 180 degrees, from number one, the third cylinder in the firing order will close exhaust, and start to open intake. I hope you see a pattern by now. There is your firing order on any V-8 engine.

All 5.0 from 85 on had deep lifter bores for roller lifters. Not all used the roller cam, but can.
Firing order for the Non HO 5.0 was the 15426378 regardless of flat or roller.
HO and 5.8 shared the 13726548 firing order
