89 chevy 350 oil smells like the oil under the main caps.
my dads 89 chevy farm truck died while my brother was driving, we figured fuel injection = electrical problem. I checked and sure enough the starter was bad it tried to continue to crank on its own and got real hot etc. so we got a new starter and a new batt. the old one didnt hold a charge. i got it to turn over hesitantly and it fired a few times. I then got it to run for about 10 seconds i had to rev it a bit to keep it going. the thing stoped totaly not like a normal slow chuging stop but a sudden stop. and wouldnt crank any more. then i looked into the oil. I checked the dip stick and it was blacker than black and had more "glitter" in it than i like to see. It also smelled like engine oil under the main caps real burnt and nasty. I am thinking he spun a bearing or some other eaqualy bad thing what do you guys think.
