89' Firebird Trans Question
I have a mint 89-Firebird with a 305 and AOD trans. How does one find out if it's a 700r4 or what ever. I'm looking to stiffin up the shifts, but not sure which way to go. Was thing of installing a B&M Shift Kit, but from the posts, it sounds like once you split the pan, you're toast. It has 62k on it, and the fluid been chanced 3-time since new. Any suggestions?

Tminnie, go to Willys36's photo album, he has a trans guide there to see, match your pan with the pan on the guide and there is your tranny. I have installed shift kits in all of my transmitions and each has done very well. All a shift kit does is raise the fluid pressure in your transmition to help it shift "harder". If I am wrong people please correct me.
