89 Ford Ranger No Start

Hi everyone. I have a question regarding an 89 ford ranger that has a no start condition. We are working on it up at our local college and have almost come to a dead end. There is spark, fuel pressure is in spec, and there is compression. However, there is something in the circuit that has to do with grounding the injectors. I know this since we have checked for power at the injectors and sure enough, it is there. When the injector ground wire at the ecm is connected straight to ground, the noid light comes on. It seems that our only problem is the lack of the injectors pulsing. My question is this, does the DIS module control injector pulse on fords like on chevys? We have checked all the wires that should be "inputs" to the DIS module. However, we are unaware of which wires are "outputs" and do any of those outputs return to the ecm? If anyone has any tests numbers (in terms of volts, ohms, etc) it would be greatly appreciated. By the way, we do not have access to a break out box.

what engine does it have? is it the DIS 2.3 4cyl?

if the crank sensor or cam sensor is bad, it won't pulse.. if it's got the distributor, the TFI modual could be bad as the distributor does act as the cam sensor.. the distributorless 4cyl would have a bad cam sensor, but they had both versions in '89, seems it was a crossover year

It is the 2.3 DIS. However, would there be spark if the crankshaft sensor was bad?

There should be a small ground wire from the negative battery terminal, that goes to a single cavity wire connector. If this ground is bad, the processor will not work, and cause similar issues. This was a common ford issue of that era.

I just wanted to post back and let everyone know that a new ecm fixed the problem. Thank you all for your help.
