We are putting a8inch ford in a 31 frame with the spring on top as was in 31 but the brackets for the shackles are to close to backing plates to get the braklines on can we flip the plates so that the lines will be under the axle and out of the way. any ideas, ?
I would think about extending the frame spring mount so that the spring is at the back of rear end . I have seen pics where this was done . You could fab the brackets fairly easy . Flipping the plates might work considering you place primary and secondary shoes properly . Only side effect is you leave your brake line exposed under the rear end . It is better protected on top from road hazards . I just pulled a S10 rear end set up that way in my Model A and the bracket is tight to the plate but its dark and aiming the cam is difficult . I could get a better pic tommorrow its in the back of my truck.
You can swap the brake cylinders ... from side to side ...
I always do that ... and run my lines towards the front ...
