IMHO.......NO

There will be some who will tell you yes.......BUT when FOMOCO put a engine in a car with over 250 HP or so.......it got a 9 inch.

Think about that......and that's NO slicks, and 509 inches.

A 57 -59 Ford car rear end works great in a 41.
They run around $150 each............in the Southland.....

I've seen several 8" rear ends snap the pinion gear off. These were all behind nearly stock 289's and 302's with average 14" 60 and 70 series tires and auto transmissions. In my opinion it isn't worth the trouble installing an 8" even if you got it for free.

I would try to find a 69-70 Mustang rear with 31 spline axles.......they are stronger (31 splines)

A "N" case is also stronger.

Click here for 9 inch Ford info.

http://www.dfwmotorsport.com/Fairlane/9inchrearends.htm

I have 31 spline axles, a Strange aluminum case and a Detroit Locker under my 32.

" when in doubt....make it stout."
