looking for a 9 inch ford rear end 31 spline need to know what vehicles have a 31 spline in it...thanks

I have found that all the 31 spline axle shafts I have had looked like the above photo.

The 28 spline ones have a rectangular slot........or that's been my experience.

Believe you can find 9" ford rears of the 31 spline variety in ford pick-ups if your looking in parts yards[junkyards].

that`s going to be a tough item to find" you might want to think about a Currie enterprises or Moser? will cost you some but worth the trouble of piecing one together?

We use a 9" floater rear end from Schreiner Enterprises in our 64 Nova road racer. It's an excellent product.

Some 28 splines have the 3 holes like a 31.

I have never seen 31 spline axles in a light duty housing. When you find a 3 hole axle type in a rear end, check to see if it is a HD housing.

I just build 9" for my street rod. The axles were 31 spline
from a 1978 Ford Truck and it had Trac-lok.. However some Lincolns, Merc's, and Ford LTD's also have 31 spline axles. I don't know of any sure way to tell other than pull it and count the splines... If your looking for a Trak-loc, pull the tag from the right side, second bolt down and if it says something like, WFE-AC. The F means its Trak-Loc. And
3L25, L Means Trak-Loc, 3L25 also means its a 3.25 grear ratio. With the other # I might be able to tell your more

I got a nice 31 spline 4 pinion trac lock, with a 350 gear center, Ford 9" center chunk out of a 77 4x4 p/u for $236 i'm going a 31 spline detroit locker or a rebuilt trac loc. look on ebay or on craigs list, in the local news paper ect. there was a lot of em made.

I have a rear that is out of a 58-9 Edsel and it looks like this one. It has the large bearings and 28 splines but most of the 31 spline axles do look like this.

I've got count em 2, 9" complete axles with three holes from a early bronco with big bearings and 28 spline axles. Threw me for a loop when I went and bought a 31 spline spool.
