90 camaro RS 2.8 Theft moduale question

I'm lookin at buyin one of these. The engine runs but it cuts off and the security light comes on. I was told it's the theft moduale by a GM mechanic. Is there any way to bypass this? I have a carburated 350 chevy to put in it. I would just like to wait and rebuild the 350 first. If you have any other infor mation for me I would much appreciate it.
