90 degree corner

I was doing what I thought looked like an easy project. I was simply making a cover for an armrest. Sewing on the inside of a 90 degree outside corner is very challenging, Should I be using some pins to keep it aligned? the biggest problem seems to be getting the material bunched up under the foot. It is a relatively tight 90, May be a 1/4 radius

Also when pinning a piece do you pin on the seam line and remove as you go or off to the side and remove after completion?

You need to tell me what kind if fabric you're sewing, but it should not be necessary to pin the fabric to sew it. Do you have a digital camera to take a picture? Is this a sharp 90 degree turn? If so, you need to lift the foot with the needle down through the two pieces of fabric, cut a relief cut, turn the fabric 90 degrees and continue sewing. Do these first 3 pictures help, or is it more like the last picture? To sew the corner like in the last picture, you don't need to lift the foot. If it's just slightly round you may need to lift the foot and turn it slightly after every stitch, or every couple stitches. Hope this helps.

thanx Dan. Very much like the last one.Im sewing on vynil. Looks like cutting reliefs is where I have gone wrong. Perhaps I could cut the material a little large and then trim the selvage. I have a camera but dont know how to upload photos

I use 1/2" seam allowances. Then after I topstitch, I trim off any excess.

Is it anything like these pictures?
(sorry about the picture quality)

And "pictures are worth a thousand words". It would have taken a book to try to describe those four pics Dan first posted. But for me it clarified the problem/solution immediately. And all done in a blink of an eye with the combination of digital cameras, the internet, and Dan's superknowledge.

Also yards and yards of extra vinyl material to work with! Much easier to understand if you can see what I'm talking about. Now if I could just take better quality pictures!
