Post 91 5.0 EFI Swap

I am using a 5.0 H.O. from a 91 T-Bird for a swap into a Street Rod. I am keeping the EFI What is the best service manual for the Fuel injection also any other info out there would be great. I have been to the Windsor Fox site but he only deals with Mustang motors.

Question

What are you seeking...swap information? If so, the BIRD engine is mostly the same as the MUSTANG.

You basically have to decide if you are going Mass Air or Speed Density and go from there. Windsor-Fox offers a harness that will wire your installation. I believe Painless Wiring does also. The changeover requires a Cobra Mustang ECM.

Two excellent publications on FORD FI are;

Ford Fuel Injection & Electronic Engine Control
By Charles O. Probst

and;

How To Tune & Modify FORD Fuel Injection
By Ben Watson

If you are seeking just repair and trouble shooting info, the correct year shop manual would be best.

If this doesn't fully answer your question, please get back.

Question

I don't understand the reason the harness will not work. The MUSTANG, BIRD and MARK engines that year were all HO roller motors with SEFI and MAF.
But he is the expert, and I am not.

Let's try this approach. -FORD Racing Performance Parts also has a changeover harness. Order the catalog. With their harness comes a complete instructions booklet. They sell this separately for five bucks. This will give you basic information before laying out the big bucks. They also have a tech line that will answer your questions (810) 468-1356.

You can also draw the engine control circuits out of the existing harness. You would need the first reference book I gave you in an earlier post and a wiring schematic for the '91 BIRD. This can be obtained from Helms Publishing or if you know someone at a dealer, all of this information is now on CD Rom. Have them print one for you.

I would not hesitate for a moment reagrding the BIRD engine. If you need anymore information, just ask.

Thanks for the info. I received the Ford Fuel Injection Book it looks like it will be a great deal of help. I spoke with Ford and they were the best to work with. I will either use Fords main harness or use all of mine from the donar car, Ford said they would help either way.
Kultulz thanks again
