91 s-10 pegged out oil pressure

91 s-10 pickup 4.3L engine,

oil pressure guage pegs out past 80 psi when running

drops zero when off

never any lower or different.

whats the culprit?

the oil sender or the guage?

surely a common issue in the late '80s early '90s

ive seen this before several times i know

199k and running strong every day.

thanks

I would change the sending unit first before going any further.

Sounds like somebody put in a sender for the idiot light, rather than for a guage,

how can i test it with a volt or ammeter or resistance in ohms, or?

its a stock factory 1991 one

is it the one threaded into the engine block driver side down low??

yes?

is it technically called the oil pressure switch,
or sender?

thanks!
