i am almost done with the conversion i am stuck with the ignition system. i based it off of a 78 dodge magnum 318 - i got the dstributor coil and ignition control module from that car but iam unsure as to wiring it up and if i nee a ballast resitor and wat kind please help me out

You first need to check to determine which system you have.
The distributor should have a single pickup coil as opposed to a dual pickup coil. This can be determined by the wires leading from the distributor. One set of leads would indicate a single pickup and 2 sets of leads indicate a 2 pickup unit.
Do you have any of the original ignition wire harness and connectors?
If you have a single pickup distributor (they used them only in 1978,79) the module will need to be compatible.
The (spark control) module receives input data from the following.
-throttle position transducer.
-coolant switch.
-idle stop carburetor switch.
-starter relay.
-manifold vacuum.
The secondary wiring (spark plug) is the same as a conventional system.
A single 5 ohm ballast resistor is used in the run circuit to power the coil. The resistor is bypassed in the start mode.
Are you aware that this will not pass State inspection?
