Question 92 Ford Taurus S/W

My wife wants me to look at a Station Wagon my neighbor is selling. Does anyone know of any outstanding problems with this year or model. It has about 125,000 miles. Thanks

From the point of view of the local junkyard:
Three very similar cars sitting there all in pretty decent to quite nice shape. Two 3.0 cars with bad transmissions, one 3.8 car with "bad heads". A surprisingly large number of 3.0 engines for sale, cheap. No 3.8's. The 3.8's in evidence have no cylinder heads. Not transmissions for either car currently in stock.
So in general I'd be VERY wary of any signs of transmission trouble and wary of cylinder heads/signs of overheating if it's a 3.8 car. Any thing else should be reasonably affordable to repair.
