I have a 93 camaro which had a v6 motor but had it removed, now its just the body I still have the v6 computer...i want to put a v8 motor but dont know what motor will fit...my friend has a lt1 from a 96 impala that has for sale he told me it will fit a b-body.thats another problem I have I dnt know wats a b-body?since I just bought the camaro Im clueless on wat to.do?
most of the guys on the v6 camaro forums say that its easier to just sell the car and buy one that came with the v8 with the 4thgen cars.aparently there are a bunch of different things that have to be changed over when going from v6 to v8 in the 4thgen cars
Thanks that will help..so ur saying my camaro is an f body..? Also yes mine was a 3.4l...i need to get a lt1 but from what car should I get it which will fit my car..ive seen lt1s from 96 impalas, trans am I dont know..which one will fit my body...since ur saying mines an f-body
any lt1 will work,u will want one out of an f-body or vette though, as the caprice and other cars used a lower hp lt1 ( different cam and ex system ) any of the lt1's will fit, but i belive u need an f-body specific oil pan if memory serves me right
be aware that the 3.4L ecm will not run the lt1, so u will need the wiring harness and ecm from the doner car as well , along with that u will need to change out the front springs, engine mounts and i belive the abs box needs to be moved as well.
along with that i belive the v6 cars had a single fan setup were the lt1 cars have a twin fan setup so u will need that too
most ppl who try to go from the v6 to v8 swap in those year cars end up never completing it cause its alot to do. ur better off getting a 3.4 and putting that back in then selling the car and just buying one with a v8 outright
Thanks u answered my next question if I needed mounts, fans etc..my last question do I need to get a 3.4l from a camaro or can I put any other v6?also if I do put a v6 3.4l another camaro which im sure ill do am I gonna need the mounts from the donor car or the original camaro ones?im a post some pics tomorrow so u can see what im working with
the only cars that had the 3.4 rwd engine is the 93-94 camaro/firebird so u will have to get one directly out of that.
if the motor mounts are still in place they will be the correct ones for the v6 unless somone had changed them to the v8 mounts already
if u need help getting the car back together fullthrottlev6.com will have loads of information for u
