35 steering box.

According to my 1935 "Motors Auto Repair" you have either a "GEMMER 1 (single roller) as opposed to the Gemmer 2. It only refers to the column and box assembly being attached to the car by the steering support at the dash and the frame bolts holding the box to the frame. (also the pitman arm). Because the steering shaft is attached to the "steering box" by means of an internal "worm" gear. Thus the steering column will not just slide out. It appears to me (to make it easier to work on) that the entire steering column with box will have to be removed from the car and the box disassembled to remove the shaft. This probably would be easier taken out from the bottom with the steering wheel removed. Of course you could go under the car and disassemble everything from underneith. The book is not at all clear. Maybe you can find additional information by Googling "Gemmer 1" steering box? Good luck.
