My fathers 98 chevy pick up did this same thing about 3 weeks ago. The electric fuel pump failed. We did a pressure check and it had 20 psi, it was supposed to have 55 psi. The truck would start and idle, but would shake real bad, and it wouldn`t rev at all, you press the pedal all you wanted and the engine wouldn`t come off idle. Check your fuel pressure.
