94 to 95 Ford Taurus engine and trans swap

My sister has a 95 Taurus sedan with approx. 70k on it, she was stopped at an intersection and was hit from behind, the car is a total loss except for the drive train.

I have found a 94 Taurus wagon with 138k on it that is in great shape except the trans is shot.

Has anyone had experience swapping the engine and trans from a 94 to 95 that can tell me if this is a direct swap?
I do know that they are both V6 cars with automatic trans.

Is there any issues going from a sedan to a wagon?

If I am going to do this for her I must move on the wagon quickly before it is sold, any help is greatly appreciated.

i have a 96 taraus with the 24 valve 3.0 motor, ford put several different motors in the taraus. the 24 valve 3.0, a 3.8, a 3.0 regular, and a few more i think, so be sure they both have the exact same motor and tranny

Thanks for the quick reply 347mustang.

Her Taurus has the 3.8, I will find out which motor the wagon has and I need to ckeck to see which tranny is in her sedan.

I guess with all the electronics it must be the exact same motor and trans, this are the things I must be aware of, anything else I should watch out for?

i know that my other car---a 96 olds delta, the tranny went out and the trannys looked exactly the same(from another 96 old delta) , and it even bolted up , but it was a different code, and the computer in the car would not control it, it was a mess...after you check to see if they both have the same motor , than check the tranny , than check the code for the trannys, cause they may look the same and fit but they must be 100% the same or it will not work..same vin code on the tranny, same plug inn's. these newer cars are nice but they have the interchangeable that just stinks

Would it be a pain to swap the computers?
If I need to swap a bunch wiring or rewire anything then it will not happen, vehicle wiring is my weak point and I do not have the time to research and learn Ford Taurus electronics and wiring.

the computers should be plug and play, because everything else should be wired the same, only the computer would be flashed diffrent for the 2 diffrent motors.
