94 F150 axle code question
 

A friend just left with a question about the axle code on the 94 F150 4x4 just purchased.
The bottom row on the tag reads 3L55 88 3L08
He is looking to replace the rear end and needs to know if it is a 3.55 gear or a 3.08?
Any info would be helpful.

that's odd. it's a limited slip but your right, it could be ither or.. check the door tag

That's the only thing that seemed to be logical .
I believe he checked the door and it implied a 3.55.

Yeah 3.55... center number is for an 8.8 axle and last code is the plant stamping

Accidentally double-posted due to server traffic and editing.

Tag is USUALLY (IMO / IIRC) in the ratio, ring gear dia, date-code format.
3L55 should be 3.55 "Locking" diff with an 8.8" Ring Gear

You didn't say what was on the top row of that tag ... but
Fordification may be able to decode that for you.
