94 GM 3800 oil pump pressure spring and valve

Hi
On a 1994 GM 3800 want to know in what direction the spring and valve go Im assuming spring goes into the timimg cover and the valve with the cavity goes over the spring and oil filter housing cover on top is this correct someone plese let me know
