94 grand am quad 4 ignition

This car is driving me insane !! I started out being able to start it with starting fluid, now I'm not even getting spark. When I took off the ignition mod harness, and put it back on it started and ran. I drove it around and parked it and when I returned to start it it woudent start. After I messed with the harness again and it started , but the next time, nothing not even spark. The noid light will light up once on No. 1, only if I disconnect the battery for a while. This haynes book says if I power the purple/wh(ref ign input hi), the noid light should pulse. it does not.

Sounds to me that you have a loose connection on the plug where it plugs into the spark controller. Check your connections.

Glad you found it! I was stumped. Not that it takes much.
