94 suburban 350 into a 64 impala

I am needing some help with my project. I have a 350 motor out of a 94 suburban into a 64 impala. My question is I am taking the TBI off and wanting to put a carb on it. Do away with the computer all together. Can I use the stock heads and an edlebrock performer rpm intake on it? Any mods I need to know about? I need to replace the dist. aswell, any suggestions on that. I am planning on running with the stock powerglide and rearend for now, any suggestions on a better combo in that area? Any input and or advice would be appreciated

Those TBI heads are good for economy but not performance. As for a trans suggestion I'd go with a 2004R. It will swap right in most cars that came with a Glide. I'm not familiar with the Impala crossmember & frame mounting tho'. Most cars you can just slide it back but the Imp has an X-frame. I'm sure someone knows if it'll work. HEI Distributor.
Here's one site with parts to strengthen the dropout style rear.

Thanks for you input SSedan64. I appreciate all the help I can get. What is a good head for performance, not building a drag car but would like to have good power when needed.
