From your post I am guessing the transmission drops out of gear when you stop?

The trans seems to go into "neutral" after you stop the vehicle, then as you step on the gas pedal the trans "bangs' into gear then moves?

Mileage on this transmission? Any recent work or service of the fluid?

Sounds like low fluid or a worn out transmission
