95 K15 4L60e issues

I have a 95 Chevy K1500 with the 4l60e. Truck has 170xxx on it, unknown if the tranny has ever been touched. Here is my situation. No Reverse. There is a rpm change but no engagement. Put in D and the truck moves and drives. 1st draws out a little bit then the tranny shifts to 3rd. Skips 2nd completely. Have had the truck up to 75mph and it will not shift into overdrive. If you leave it in D and coast downhill the engine rpms freefall as if nothing is there. Leave it in 3rd, and the rpms stay up asif the motor and tranny are working together. Have not pulled the pan yet. Called one tranny shop, they say simple fix. Another says total rebuild. I'm not afraid of the truth, just know very little about these trannies. Also I have tried manually shifting from 1 to 2, so on and that hasnt changed anything thing. Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated.

sounds like a broken or stripped sunshell, which is a common problem with these transmissions. with 170k on the odometer, its lived almost twice its average service life, if it hasnt been built already...

Thanks for the advice. Gona drop the pan tonight and check it out. I agree if it hasnt been rebuilt already it is due. Just got the truck a few months ago. Its seems previous owner took good care of it so i would assume the tranny has probably had some work done considering the reputation of the tranny in question. Will scope out the sunshell and go from there. Thanks again!

you can not see the sun shell with the pan removed... very little of it in view.

when sun shell breaks or strips out the splines there is no reverse , 2nd or 4th as mentioned.
