ok, well, the info you gave is limited, but ill ask some questions to try and help narrow it down... here goes, is this your 1st 4L60E rebuild?
before installation, did you flush out the cooler lines?
did you find the root cause of failure on why the trans failed in the first place?
did you scan for codes before removal to see if it had any electrical problems?
more info on details can help us help[ you find out what happened and whats going on with it now...
and last question, did you buy a new/reman torque converter?

Yes, new torque conv, yes cleaned and flushed lines, no codes stored * has obd1 and this is my 4th 4l60e the failure was a broken accumulator, we plugged it off and added a trans go plate and it was awesome for 80 miles. thank you so much for the questions and I so much hope you can help me figure this thing out, Ken

These engines (and transmissions) rely on electric fans. There is a known problem on 1994-96 'B-body' cars (Caprice, Impala, Roadmaster). The culprit is the primary cooling fan relay- it overheats and fails, thus, no fan to cool anything.

Make sure your fan and relay is OK. The ticking is probably your overheating engine.

GM sells a service package under part # 12167644

A pressure check on the trans will help in diagnosis.
