96 blazer 4.3 swap

I have a 96 blazer 4x4 with a knocking rod, automatic trans I believe a 4l60.
I just got a totaled 98 Blzer 4x4. I was plannig on useing the 98 long block with all of the 96 acc. and injection. Will this work? I read on another forum that one has the bell haousing cast in with the trans and one has a seperat bell housing, are they interchangable?

Mike

the bellhousing is NOT part of the engine so that won't be a problem.
if they're both the vortec engine, i don't see a problem BUT if you're buddies with somebody (like a salvage yard) with a hollander interchange book, i'd check 1st...
slip 'em 10 bucks for doing it, it'll be worth it in the long run.

There is a differnce in the trasmissions. I am running a 1999 bolt on 360 bellhousing on my 97 truck that originally had the 1 piece, sheetmetal TC cover.

these differences wont affect your swap at all. the 1996-2000 V6 and V8's are all the same.
This is 100% correct.
