96 Bronco Rear End in a 65 Mustang

I have located a 1996 Bronco Eddie Bauer with a 351W and an 8.8" out back. I know that there are a lot of folks using the 95-01 Explorer rear ends in 65 Mustangs, but how about a Bronco? It might be a bit wider, but I plan on using Bullitt Style wheels and know that wheel spacers are required to do so. Maybe a wider track might help out? With Explorer rear ends going so fast, it might be good to ask what else can fit in the old Stangs.

65/66 Mustangs are pretty narrow. 57-59 FULL-size Fords will fit AND alot are 9". Ford Ranger rearends will fit but the pass. side is offset on that. Have to get 2 pass side rear housing to work.

The Bronco rear end is going to be very wide. I would guess that the ends of the axles would almost stick out past the sides of the car. The only way to know is to measure it and see how wide it is. The bolt pattern on the axles is going to be 5 on 5, so car wheels won't fit. Also check the pinion offset. It might be offset too far to the right to use in the Mustang.

What about a FOX Mustang rear end? They are about 59 1/2 inches wide and not hard to find. The GT rear ends are 8.8 and all have the Traction Lock differential. 5 lug axles are easy to get. You can cut the controll arm brackets off and weld on spring perches.
