96 chrysler 3.0 oil pump removal
i got me another "fun" one in the shop today..
i need to find out if the stamped steel style 3.0L oil pan has to be removed in order to pull off the oil pump
crank driven pump
doesnt say in the book...
ive got this 3.0 torn down to the front of the block and all the oil pump bolts out but its not budging
must be more bolts straight up from underneath inside the pan...
also another question...
can you lock the camshaft sprockets in position with the marks lined up?
is there a hole in the head that lines up with one of the holes in the sprocket, for each head, to lock the sprockets in this position? with a bolt or rod, etc.,
update: welp even with it bein a steel oil pan style engine the pan had to come off to get the pump assembly off the crank... this info is not given to you in the repair info... says nothin about oil pan whatsoever, when removing the pump assembly.. since the pickup tube is attached to the pump and wont allow the pump to slide off the crank with the pan installed.
i guess i dont really need any info here now...
the store had to order the pump to engine block gasket and its not called this name though.. and the last one i did on a dodge mini-van v6 was way simple compared to this one, apparently it was not the 3.0L because the pump on the other one was in fron of the timing belt, not behind it like this 96 is...
so many vehicles, i am confused.
