'96 s10 belches ATF out the breather
Got a problem with the wife's s10 Blazer belching ATF out the breather tube that is coupled up to the dipstick tube. It is NOT overfilled. It only does it when it's very hot outside and the AC is running or when I tow a 14' aluminium boat behind it.(Not very heavy). The plug wires on that side have become saturated from this so I'd like to correct this before I put new ones on. When I bought the vehicle a year and a half ago, the previous owner said the fluid had been changed.Looking at it from underneath, it appears the "fluid change" was done by cutting the cooler line and "flushing" the trans. This has become popular at the 2 minute oil change places around here. If the filter has not been changed.....could this cause the belch? Perhaps too much fluid accumulating in the pan, unable to go thru the filter fast enough? The trans works fine other than that, and does not seem to be starving for fluid. Oh yeah, it's a 700r4.

Normally the breather tube is not hooked to the filler tube,,,, if I understand your post.
Belching fluid is from two main things, one of which you say is NOT the problem... the tranny is running TOO hot or it is over filled. I would have a seasoned tranny person check it for proper operation.....shifting, cooler flow and more importantly converter lock up. If the filter was clogging up , the pump most likely would " whine" as it tries to pick up fluid. and "no" the tranny is not a 700r4... In a 1996 S-10 vehicle it is the 4L60E which is the full electronic controlled version of the 700 tranny
