95 S10 Diff.
I'm wanting to slip a different rear end in my 95 s10 and was wondering if anyone know, off hand, what will fit. I have heard that the third gen camaros and some older 70s Novas, but i'm not sure. Any ideas??
Thanx. Last edited by Greg T : 07-21-2007 at 06:38 AM. |

s10 blazer of any year will work, but a late model will have rear disc brakes. try to find one from a 2wd because 4wd are a little wider but will still work. extreme s10s mostly had a posi unit and rear disc brake. |

Make sure you use a 2 wheel drive axle. The 4x4's are wider. FYI, the Isuzu Hombre's 94 ish and newer fit too. I have a 96 isuzu under my 92 Sonoma.
ALso, the TRAILBLAZER's 2002 and newer do not bolt across. |

98 and up blazer is what you are lookin for, they also have a stronger 28 spline axle rather than a 26(i think your 95 might already have a 28 spline becuase it is a 7.625) i am not sure but the blazers axle fits right under your truck.

I'll have to do some pricing. Right now the gears are ridiculous. Gotta be about 3.90 or so and open diff. Is it possible to get a limited slip carrier to slide into that housing? Sorry for all the questions, but in all of my 35 years of building and tuning engines I have never really done much with diffs. What I would really like is a 3.23 or so limited slip. would a carrier like this fit my housing?

Yes, there are gears and different style of posi carriers readily available.
Check www.jegs.com and www.summitracing.com for pricing and selection. Jegs has a house brand of gears and my 4:10's from them in my 92 Sonoma are just fine. |

You don't want to use a truck diff. It isn't a "posi" (limited slip) but a Gov-Lock locker. They work like an open diff till one tire spins about 100RPM faster then the other. They then lock solid like a locker. They are known for being very weak (giving the nickname of Gov-Bomb). They aren't anything you would want in a performance vehicle. You need to look for a 28-spline diff. Stuff older then ~'89 won't work because it will be 26-spline. 3rd gen F-bodies had Torsen differentials in them and they are a good street diff. Your other options are all aftermarket.

Okay, will the 3rd gen F body bolt in, or need some surgery? |
