96 Yukon won't move...

Hi I am new so dont get annoyed if I make a mistake! I recently purchased a 96 yukon that has a new gm crate engine, problem is it don't move. The trans (700r4) & transfer case were supposed to have been rebuilt less than 1 year ago. When you put it in gear, it does not even make a noise. I was told that the transfer case may be stuck in between gears by the elecctric motor. What should I check first? ANY HELP?
Thanks
Russ

The trans is not a 700r4. It is a 4L60E trans .

IF the shifter motor on the t-case is bad, usually this will set a DTC and the check engine light is 'on'... I've never seen one of these t-case motors stick / stop with the t-case in neutral

Has the vehicle computer be scanned with a quality scanner , not a cheap code reader device.

You can remove the motor and try to move the t-case into a different gear position.

Also, if the T-case is stuck in between ranges, or in neutral, and you put the trans in gear, then into park ( with the engine running) the park pawl wil ratchet like crazy, sounds like gears grinding. This is assumung the trans is engaging in gear.

put truck in park, release parking brake, try to push truck, if it rolls, t-case is most likely in neutral, or between gears.
