97 Camaro no start problem

Got a buddy who has a no start problem with his 97 Camaro V6. We have traced it using GM wiring diagrams to the theft deterrent relay as the likely culprit. Problem is the manuls do not give a location for this sucker. We have been all over, under and inside the car looking for it. Anybody got any ideas as to a location?

Thanks
Vince

Here's a link that may help, it has pics of component locations on it. I had to get home from work to get to this bookmark or I'd posted it up earlier. Hope it helps!

Edited to add: I went back through that site and didn't see it but found another pic of the location.

Relay Location

Is the security light flashing? If it is I dought you have a relay problem. It will most likely be the VATS passkey system. Those little wires going down the steering column tend to break at the lock cyl. If the system doesn't see a pre set resistance from the key pellet, the system will disable the starter ckt. There are 14 different resistance values it can be. At the shop I most of the time will just measure the key resistance and put a few resistors together to match the key pellet, and install the resister at the base of the column (small 2 wire orange harness). That way the security system "sees" a key. and allows atarter to function. Good luck!

Thanks, it is fixed

Wish to thank everyone for the tips on the Camaro, it turned out to be an ignition switch. I was offering advice on this repair to a co-worker who lives some distance from me, so I was unable to assist other than passing on information from this site.

Thanks
Vince

Actually it wasn't the pass key system, but the start contactor on the ignition switch which was fried.
