97 gmc 1500 97 GMC 1500 Internal transmission squeak

hi all,

i have a 97 GMC 1500 2wd pick-up with the 4.3 vortec v6 engine in it, its got little over 218,000 kilometres on it. it squeaks when i turn left or hold the wheel slighty left, was told it could be the brakes, so they were checked and they aren't causing it, put the truck up in the air, turned the drive shaft to check the u joints and that wasn't it, while turning the drive shaft we notced the squeak was coming from the transmission. the squeak occurs when the driveshaft is turned so the wheels are turning in the forward direction, it didn't squeak when rotated in reverse. we believe it was coming from the rear of the transmission, i believe it is the 4L60E transmission, fluid is good and so is the level. no trouble codes present.

i know the darn gremlins they just won't go away lol.... the trans was in the neutral position when check and a very audible squeak was heard. my shop teacher who is a mechanic checked the squeak by holding a screwdriver up to the case and the other end to his ear and he said the squeak was coming from inside, the transmission shifts fine so i don't think thats the problem. how does one check the power steering pump? wasn't the diff, we checked that as well, while checking that the squeak was heard and he asked if thats what i heard and i said yes, so we moved up to the tranny. is it possible that a the tranny mount is toast? or the left motor mount?
