I have a 1997 5.0L vortec that starting to go bad at the bottom end. I wanted to know what block/heads I can use to replace it. Can I take everything off my vortec (intake, all front accessories ). I have a 96 Lt1 w/ head, a 4 bolt main sbc w/heads, a 2003 ls 5.3l w/heads. Can I use any of these block with there stock heads and just replace everything else with my vortec accessories?

You can use neither, actually. Although all three are SBCs, each belongs to a different generation. The 5.0L vortec would be a gen I, the LT1 will be a gen II, which shares a lot in common with the gen I but the timing and coolant system are different. And the 5.3L is a gen III, which shares nothing in common with the previous two except the bore spacing. Unfortunately without an intake and harness, swapping either is going to be a bit of a pain. My suggestion is to either rebuild the 5.0L or find a 5.7L Vortec motor and swap it in. Both the LT1 and 5.3L have been done before, but without all the needed components (all three use very different intake manifolds, for example) and an aftermarket tune, It will never run right.
